About This Project
Pacific Garden Mission had been located on south State Street in Chicago for almost a hundred years. In 2007 they moved to a new 150,000 square foot LEED Silver building on s Canal Street. Midwest Mechanical and Applied Mechanical Sales teamed up with a cost effective solution to bring this new LEED silver building to completion within the mechanical budget. During the bid construction phase they proposed Camus high efficiency boilers that could be installed in an enclosed rooftop unit penthouse saving valuable interior space. The finished mechanical space included three 50 hp boilers for space heating and three 50 hp domestic hot water heaters to supplement the solar panel heaters installed on the roof. The domestic water load can be substantial during event periods for showers, meals and laundry services.
Applied Mechanical Sales also measured and provided all the non-corrosive stainless steel breeching and stack venting material manufactured by Cheminee Lining Corporation.
The PGM personnel have been very hands on the workings of the boilers and water heaters and regularly perform routine maintenance to make sure they always have critical systems operational.
